New Post

Good morning, Terre Haute. With Mother’s Day now in the rear-view, it’s time to start thinking about Father’s Day. You can’t go wrong with gift cards to hardware stores or favorite restaurants. But you’ve still got time to get creative. Tools, workwear, or grilling accessories might score extra brownie points this year.

Through the grapevine today:

  • West Vigo HS getting ahead

  • Local WWI hero’s story rekindled

  • RJL Solutions showing up the state

Let’s get after it!

THE MAIN SQUEEZE

West Vigo Selected for Early College Program

Photo: CELL News, UIndy

West Vigo High School just leveled up. Thanks to a University of Indianapolis-backed CELL program and a shiny new grant, every student now has access to early college coursework. Teachers win too, with chances to upskill and connect statewide. It’s a full-court press on college readiness—three years in the making, now fully live across campus. Thank you Ryan Easton, WVHS principal, for sharing details on the program. Just up the road, South Vermillion HS also came out on top in the selection.

Outstanding Service @ Union Health

🏥 Union Health rolled out the red carpet for healthcare heroes in Terre Haute, handing out the Bhupani Excellence Awards. Aimee Cottrell snagged the Service Award, while nursing veteran Joyce Vines (class of ‘86) took home top honors in nursing—and a scholarship boost from the Bhuptani Family Fund to boot. Congratulations to both of them and thank you to all of our excellent health care workers.

This GE Order will Change Things

Qatar Airways just dropped a mega order for 400+ GE Aerospace engines—the biggest widebody engine deal in GE’s history. The catch? Terre Haute’s pitching in with key parts. These next-gen powerhouses will fuel Boeing 787s and 777Xs, keeping Qatar’s fleet sleek and speedy. GE’s global engine hustle already powers 55% of its revenue. Indiana is one of fourteen states in on the deal, with Indianapolis and Terre Haute being the two contributing plants in the state.
